USA South preseason soccer polls released

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The USA South Athletic Conference released its men's and women's preseason soccer polls on Wednesday.

The Huntingdon men are tied for fourth in the West Division and the Huntingdon women are fifth in the West Division of their poll.

In the men's poll, defending conference champion Maryville is the preseason favorite in the West Division. The Scots received five first-place votes and 25 points. Covenant was second with one first-place vote and 20 points, followed by Piedmont in third with 18 points, Huntingdon and Berea tied for fourth with 10 points and LaGrange in sixth with seven points.

North Carolina Wesleyan, the conference runner-up last season, leads the East Division with five first-place votes and 25 points.

In the women's poll, two-time defending conference champion Piedmont leads the West Division with six first-place votes and 48 points. Maryville College is second with one first-place vote and 41 points, Covenant is third with one first-place vote and 39 points and Agnes Scott is fourth with 28 points.

Huntingdon is fifth with 27 points, followed by LaGrange (18 points) in sixth, Berea (12 points) in seventh and Wesleyan (11 points) in eighth.

Meredith and Salem are tied for first in the East Division poll. Meredith, which won the East Division last season, received four first-place votes and 44 points. Salem, the 2016 conference runner-up, picked up three first-place votes and 44 points.
