Jerald named USA South Athlete of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon's Vic Jerald was recognized as one of the USA South Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week on Monday.

The senior running back was named Offensive Player of the Week. This is the third time a Huntingdon player has earned Offensive Player of the Week honors this season and the first time Jerald has been recognized this season.

Jerald scored three touchdowns for the 24th-ranked Hawks in a 27-17 win over LaGrange to close out the regular season. The three-time defending USA South conference champions closed out conference play with a 7-0 record.

Jerald accounted for 184 all-purpose yards, scored on runs of 1 and 5 yards and also had a 13-yard touchdown reception against the Panthers. He rushed for 150 yards on 26 carries, had one reception for 13 yards and one kickoff return for 21 yards.

For the season, the Hawks' third all-time leading rusher, leads the team and is third in the conference with 945 yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He also leads the Hawks and is second in the conference with 1,385 all-purpose yards.

Huntingdon opens the NCAA Division III playoffs at Berry College on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. (Central).
