Ballard recognized as USA South Athlete of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon senior Kendrick Ballard was recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference on Monday with the release of the conference's Athletes of the Week awards.

Ballard was named Player of the Week for men's lacrosse. This is the second straight week Ballard has been selected for the award.

A native of Raleigh, N.C., Ballard earned Player of the Week honors for his performance in a pair of wins against Oglethorpe and Brevard. He scored seven goals, including a game-winning goal in overtime, and had one assist in the two wins.

In an 18-7 win over Oglethorpe, Ballard took six shots and scored four goals. He closed the week with three goals and an assist in a 13-12 overtime win against Brevard. He scored the game-winning goal 23 seconds into overtime. It was the second time in three games that Ballard scored the decisive goal in overtime.

With the two wins, the seventh-year Hawks are off to 5-0 start for the first time in program history and tied the program's longest winning streak at five games.

Huntingdon returns to action at Rhodes on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
