Coates earns third USA South Rookie of the Week honor

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon freshman Bryce Coates was named Rookie of the Week for men's lacrosse with the release of the USA South Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week on Monday.

This is the fifth time in six weeks that at least one Huntingdon men's lacrosse player has been recognized. Coates has been named Rookie of the Week three times during that span. The San Diego native was also named Player of the Week during the first week of the USA South's men's lacrosse awards.

Coates' most recent selection was for his performance in a 5-4 double overtime win against Greensboro on Saturday. Coates scored the game-winning goal with five seconds remaining in the second overtime. He also had two ground balls in the win.

For the season, Coates' 16 goals and four assists have helped the Hawks to a 9-1 start and a 3-0 record in the USA South. The 16 goals are the second most on Huntingdon's team this season and eighth in the USA South among teams not reclassifying from Division II.
