Huntingdon Awards Ceremony
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon College athletic department held its annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday night to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes that helped make this another successful year.
This year's winners are:
Female Student-Athlete of the Year: Juliette Harp, Basketball
Male Student-Athlete of the Year: Sam Hitt, Lacrosse
Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Bria Rochelle, Volleyball
Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year: John Robert Lawrence, Soccer
Female Newcomer of the Year: Alyssa Singleterry, Softball
Male Newcomer of the Year: Bryce Coates, Lacrosse
Megan Cook Sportsmanship Award: Sidney Ison, Basketball and Caroline McBroom, Tennis
John McWilliams Sportsmanship Award: Matt Murphy, Lacrosse and
Wyatt Popovich, Basketball
Female Sport Coach of the Year Award: Ximena Moore, Tennis
Charlie Lane Coach of the Year Award: Andrew Carey, Lacrosse
Female Sport Good Works Team Award: Volleyball
Male Sport Good Works Team Award: Basketball
Female Single-Game Performance of the Year: (Golf) Vanessa Leiterman's even-par 146 to win the Rhodes Invitational. It was the second individual tournament win in program history.
Male Single-Game Performance of the Year: (Football) Otis Porter's eight receptions for a career-high 197 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-30 comeback win against North Carolina Wesleyan.
Female Sport Play of the Year: (Golf) Anna Beth Harris' hole-in-one during the second round of the Rhodes Invitational.
Male Sport Play of the Year: (Basketball) Kyante Pines' 3-pointer with one second left in overtime to beat Maryville 94-93.
Female Sport Win of the Year: The women's golf team shot the second best 36-hole total in program history with a 619 to win the Rhodes Invitational. The win was the second tournament win in program history.
Male Sport Win of the Year: The men's lacrosse team's 12-4 win over Methodist to win the inaugural USA South Athletic Conference men's lacrosse championship. With the win, the seventh-year Hawks advance to the NCAA playoffs for the first time.
