Tyma named USA South Volleyball Player of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon sophomore Amy Tyma was recognized with the release of the first USA South Athletes of the Week selections of the season on Monday.                 

Tyma was named the USA South Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

Tyma earned the recognition for her performance in four matches on the opening weekend of the season. Tyma totaled 48 kills, 41 digs, seven blocks and seven aces as the Hawks went 2-2 in the Rhodes Invitational.

Tyma opened the season with 12 kills, nine digs and five aces in a 3-0 win over Rust College and added 12 kills, 14 digs, an ace and a block in a 3-0 loss to Birmingham-Southern. In a 3-0 loss to Sewanee, Tyma totaled eight kills, eight digs and a block. She closed the weekend with 16 kills, 10 digs, five blocks and an ace in a 3-2 win over Rhodes.
