Duncan and Mellown named USA South Athletes of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Two Huntingdon student-athletes were chosen as USA South Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week on Monday.                                           

Senior T.I. Duncan was named the Women's Basketball Player of the Week and junior Carden Mellown was named the Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

This is the second time Duncan has earned the recognition this season. Mellown is the conference's first Pitcher of the Week for the 2019 season.

Duncan was recognized for her performance in a 65-43 win over Agnes Scott and a 73-66 win over Berea. She averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, 2.5 assists and one block in the two games.

Against Agnes Scott, Duncan totaled 13 points, seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block. In the win over Berea, Duncan turned in a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds to go with five steals, three assists and one block.

Mellown was recognized for his performance in the Hawks' season-opener on Friday. In the 2-0 win over Berea College, Mellown pitched seven scoreless innings and faced just 23 batters as he struck out eight, walked none and allowed just three hits.
