Duke named USA South Rookie Pitcher of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon baseball player Tucker Duke was chosen as one of the USA South Athletes of the Week on Monday.                                                           

The freshman was named the Rookie Pitcher of the Week. This is the second time this season the Pulaski, Tenn., native has earned the recognition and the seventh time this spring a Huntingdon pitcher has been recognized as Pitcher of the Week or Rookie Pitcher of the Week.

Duke was recognized for his performance in an 8-3 loss against 14th-ranked Piedmont. In Game 2 of the conference series, Duke pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief, struck out five, walked four, gave up four hits and allowed one earned run and one unearned run.

In 15 appearances on the mound this season, Duke is 4-1 with a 2.05 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings. He is fourth on the team in strikeouts and leads Huntingdon's relief pitchers in wins, ERA and innings pitched.
