MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon College athletic department held its annual Awards Ceremony on Monday night to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes that helped make this another successful year.

This year's winners are:

Female Student-Athlete of the Year: T.I. Duncan, Basketball

Male Student-Athlete of the Year: Drew Mathers, Golf

Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Vanessa Leiterman, Golf and Hannah Parks, Basketball and Lacrosse

Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Stephen Shephard, Golf

Female Newcomer of the Year: Shaonica Thomas, Basketball

Male Newcomer of the Year: Tucker Duke, Baseball and Carson Whitton, Golf

Megan Cook Sportsmanship Award: T.I. Duncan, Basketball and Lucy Burch, Tennis

John McWilliams Sportsmanship Award: Sam Hitt, Lacrosse and Chase Young, Football

Female Sport Coach of the Year Award: Paige Huff, Basketball

Charlie Lane Coach of the Year Award: Dave Schreyer, Golf 

Sports Medicine Female Comeback of the Year Award : Emily Nieuwstraten, Softball

Sports Medicine Male Comeback of the Year Award : Chris Hering, Football and Miles Stading, Lacrosse

Sports Medicine Sedulous Award: Sam Hitt, Lacrosse

Female Sport Good Works Team Award: Softball

Male Sport Good Works Team Award: Football

Female Single-Game Performance of the Year: (Volleyball) Amy Tyma's 18 kills and 20 digs in a 3-2 win over Covenant. The performance helped Huntingdon beat Covenant for the first time during the NCAA era.

Male Single-Game Performance of the Year: (Golf) Drew Mathers' record-setting win in the USA South Conference Tournament. Mathers set a USA South Conference Tournament record with his three-round score of 11-under-par 205.

Female Sport Play of the Year: (Volleyball) Nichole LeFevre, Kaitlyn Carter and Alexis Creasman combine for the match-winning point in the fifth set of a 3-2 win against Covenant. LeFevre made the pass, Carter set the ball and Creasman ended the fifth set with a kill.

Male Sport Play of the Year: (Golf) Stephen Shephard earned medalist honors and matched his best collegiate round with a 6-under-par 66 in the final round of the Jekyll Island Invitational. The 66 was two shots off the Hawks' NCAA-era single-round record.

Female Sport Win of the Year: The women's basketball team's 82-65 win over Maryville. The win was the first over Maryville since 2008 and snapped a 20-game losing streak to the Scots.

Male Sport Win of the Year: The men's golf team's 26-stroke victory in the conference tournament. The Hawks shot a 23-under 841 in three rounds to win their first USA South title and set the program's NCAA-era record for 54 holes.
