Soccer, volleyball and cross country report for preseason practice

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – Huntingdon's soccer, volleyball and cross country coaches welcomed 86 student-athletes to campus on Friday for the start of preseason practice.

Practice for each team begins on Saturday.

 

Volleyball

A total of 19 players are set to take the court for the start of preseason volleyball practice. Fifth-year head coach Latonia Brady and assistant coach Mary Willis return 11 players from last season to go with eight newcomers. The Hawks open the season in Maryville, Tenn., on Aug. 30 in the Maryville College Tournament.

 

Men's Soccer 

Fifth-year head coach Matt Cooper and assistant coach Christian Young will be working with 25 players to open preseason camp. The squad features 11 returning players and 14 newcomers.

Men's soccer will open the season on the road at Hendrix College on Aug. 30.

 

Women's Soccer 

First-year head coach Cliff Jordan and assistant coach Haley Knowles will be working with 36 players to start the preseason. Among the group are 18 returning players and 18 first-year players.

The Lady Hawks open the season at home on Aug. 30 against Talladega.

 

Men's and Women's Cross Country

This will be the third season of competition for men's and women's cross country since restarting the program. Under first-year head coach Ed Wright, the Hawks will open the season in the JSU Strut's Season Opener on Aug. 30.

Huntingdon will host the second home meet in program history this season. The Huntingdon Invitational is set for Sept. 20.
