USA South releases preseason soccer polls

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  – The USA South Athletic Conference released its men's and women's preseason soccer polls on Wednesday.

The Huntingdon women are fourth in the West Division and the Huntingdon men are tied for fifth in the West Division of their poll.         

In the women's poll, Piedmont is first in the West Division with 61 points. The Lions, which received five first-place votes, won the conference tournament title last season.

Behind Piedmont, Maryville is second with four first-place votes and 60 points, Covenant is third with 48 points and Huntingdon is fourth with 41 points. Behind Huntingdon, Brevard is fifth with 38 points, Berea is sixth with 27 points, Agnes Scott is seventh with 24 points, LaGrange is eighth with 13 points and Wesleyan is ninth with 12 points.

Pfeiffer leads the East Division poll with six first-place votes and 62 points. Greensboro, the 2018 East Division champion is second with three first-place votes and 54 points.

In the men's poll, Covenant is the preseason favorite with three first-place vote and 33 points and defending conference tournament champion Maryville is second with three first-place votes and 32 points.

Piedmont is third with one first-place vote and 28 points, Brevard is fourth with 17 points and Huntingdon and LaGrange are tied for fifth with 15 points. Berea rounds out the West Division poll with seven points.

Defending East Division champion Greensboro leads the East Division with five first-place votes and 35 points and North Carolina Wesleyan is second with two first-place votes and 32 points.
