Porter and Harvey recognized as USA South Athletes of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon football players Otis Porter and Malachi Harvey were chosen as USA South Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Porter was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Harvey was named the Special Teams Player of the Week. Both Porter and Harvey provided key plays in a 45-35 win over Maryville.

Porter had a season-high seven receptions for 175 yards and three touchdowns against the Scots. With his performance, Porter moved into second all-time for receiving yards (2,574) in Huntingdon history.

The senior scored two of the Hawks' first three touchdowns on receptions of 33 and 30 yards and helped open the game up in the third quarter with a 71-yard touchdown reception.

The 175 yards are the sixth most in a game by a Huntingdon receiver and his three touchdown receptions tied the school record. This was the second time this season and the third time in his career that Porter has caught three touchdown passes in a game.

For the season, Porter is fourth in the USA South with 19 receptions and third with 355 receiving yards. The Hawks' career leader in touchdown receptions, he leads the conference and is tied for 15th in Division III with eight touchdown receptions this season.

Harvey earned recognition this week for his performance as a kick returner. Trailing Maryville 13-7 in the second quarter, the freshman provided an early boost for the Hawks with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that gave the Hawks their first lead of the game.

The 90-yard return tied the Hawks' record for longest kickoff return and was just the seventh kickoff returned for a touchdown in program history. It is the second longest return in the conference this season.

Harvey finished the game with three returns for 121 yards and has four returns for 140 yards this season.
