Women's Golf Preseason Report

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Women's Golf is ready to take on the Spring season and grow as a young team. With 4 freshmen, the Hawks are looking to improve from their Fall season and face tough competition throughout the Spring.

"We will continue to have freshmen in our line up as we will be a young team for the next couple years," Head Coach Ashley Crane said.

Players to Watch

"Our top 3 are strong and our players are just a few shots apart in qualifying," Crane said. "Jasmine Paynter, one of our seniors, has been playing very well, with a qualifying round under par. I am looking forward to Jasmine's success this final season as a Hawk."

"Emma Cox is a junior and has been a key player for us for 3 years," Crane said. "She recovered very nicely from wrist surgery over the summer and we are all very excited to have her back with us this Spring. She is striking the ball very well right now. I am anxious to see her put it all together this Spring and hoping to see her reap the benefits of her hard work on and off the course."

"Mary Katherine Lee is a freshman and has contributed to our top 5 all year," Crane said. "She will continue to be a key player this Spring and throughout her career as a Hawk. She qualified with solid scores and you can see she's right on the cusp of greatness. I am looking forward to seeing her break the bubble this Spring; big things will come from this freshman."

"Abigail Cody, Ava Catherine Banks, Caroline Culbertson, and Paige Brown are all extremely important to the team," Crane said. "It's going to take everyone we've got to have a successful Spring season."

Expectations

"We are looking forward to improving our rank from the fall season," Crane said. "My expectation is for this team to grow together."

The Hawks finished 10th in the MCC Invitational, 15th in the Division III Fall preview, 20th in the DIII Fall Invitational, and 9th in the Chick-Fil-A Collegiate Invite.

"We are looking forward to traveling to Savannah for the first tournament," Crane said. "The ladies are also looking forward to Jekyll Island, the largest collegiate event in the country. We will get to see a lot of competition we don't see often."

Competition includes #1 Carnegie Mellon, #2 Emory, #3 Methodist, #14 Berry, and #20 Rhodes.
