Bio

Paige Huff returned to her alma mater as an assistant women’s basketball coach in 2012 and became the program’s eighth head coach before the start of the 2018-19 season.

In her first two seasons as head coach, Huff has guided the Hawks to a record of 35-19, two appearances in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament and the program’s first appearance in the USA South Tournament semifinals.

During her first season as head coach, Huff’s team set the program’s NCAA-era record for wins with a 22-5 record and set the program’s NCAA-record with a 12-game winning streak. The season saw the Hawks win their 200th game of the NCAA era and set four single-game Division III records before ending the season in the USA South Tournament semifinals.

In 2019-2020, Huntingdon was 13-14 overall and 11-5 in the USA South and advanced to the conference quarterfinals. The season marked the fourth straight year the program had reached the conference tournament and the third appearance in the quarterfinals.

As a head coach, Huff has worked with one All-Region performer (third-team selection T.I. Duncan), one All-Conference selection, three West Division selections and 13 Academic All-Conference selections.

During Huff’s six seasons as an assistant coach, the Hawks won 93 games and reached the USA South Tournament for the first two times in program history. Huff helped produce the program’s first two All-Region performers, five All-Conference selections and 55 Academic All-Conference selections.

In her first season in 2012-13, the Hawks set what was then the program record for wins in a season and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time. Huntingdon was 19-10 and defeated 24th-ranked Ferrum 84-67 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to 16th-ranked Emory in the second round.

The Hawks were 15-10 during the 2013-14 season, their first season as a member of the USA South. In 2014-15, Huntingdon was 13-12 and produced its first All-Region performer as Pat Pickens was named second-team All-South Region. The Hawks were 10-12 in 2015-16.

In 2016-17, the Hawks reached 20 wins for the first time during the NCAA era, finished 20-7, reached the USA South Tournament for the first time and advanced to the conference quarterfinals. The 2017-18 team posted a 16-10 record and advanced to the conference tournament for a second straight season as Juliette Harp earned second-team All-Region honors.

Before joining the Huntingdon staff, Huff spent four seasons coaching at the high school level. During the 2011-12 season she led the Wilcox Academy girls basketball team to a state runner-up finish. She also served as the head volleyball and softball coach at Wilcox Academy and led the softball team to the state tournament in her one season at the school.

Before Wilcox, Huff spent three seasons at Edgewood Academy as the head girls basketball coach and assistant volleyball and softball coach.

A 2008 Huntingdon graduate, Huff earned her bachelor's degree in coaching education. She earned her master's degree in physical education from Alabama State University.

A two-year player for Huntingdon, Huff was a team captain and a Great South Athletic Conference All-Academic selection. During her senior season, she helped Huntingdon put together a 15-win season.

Before transferring to Huntingdon, Huff spent two seasons at Faulkner State, where she was a captain and helped her team win a conference title.

A graduate of Foley High School, Huff played basketball and softball for the Lions and was inducted into the Foley Hall of Fame in 2016.

She is the daughter of the late Jack Huff and Dorothy McGreevy and has one brother, Jesse Huff.
