Bio

Tony Franklin joined the Huntingdon staff as head men’s tennis coach in 2019.

A 1984 Huntingdon graduate, Franklin returned to Huntingdon after helping restart the tennis program at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.

Franklin spent three seasons as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Wallace State. During that time, he led the men to two conference championships and was named the Alabama Community College Conference Coach of the Year in 2017.

In his final season, the men’s team was ranked as high as 11th in the ITA rankings and the women were ranked 20th.

Before Wallace State, Franklin taught in the Alexander City School System from 1989-2015. He coached the Benjamin Russell High School boys tennis team, and later, the girls tennis team during two separate stints.

Franklin graduated from Huntingdon with a degree in business management before earning his master’s degree in elementary education from AUM in 1996.
