Bio

Tyler Robinson joined the Huntingdon coaching staff as quarterbacks coach in 2019.

A former standout receiver for the Hawks, Robinson returned to his alma mater after coaching for five seasons at the Division I (FCS) and Division III levels.

During Robinson’s first season as Huntingdon’s quarterbacks coach, the Hawks were 8-4, won the USA South Athletic Conference championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Under Robinson’s guidance, second-team all-conference quarterback Michael Lambert passed for the third most touchdowns in a season by a Hawk (27), including a six-touchdown performance against Guilford. The six touchdown passes tied the Huntingdon single-game record and marked the first time the mark had been reached since 2011.

Two of Robinson’s quarterbacks earned Academic All-Conference honors and one was named to the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society.

Before returning to Huntingdon, Robinson spent the 2018 season as the receivers coach for Birmingham-Southern. During that season, he coached a conference Newcomer of the Year Gentry Neese, an honorable mention all-conference selection and had three receivers finish in the top-10 in the conference in yards.

Prior to Birmingham-Southern, Robinson spent three seasons as a graduate assistant receivers coach at Jacksonville State University. During that time, the Gamecocks won three consecutive conference titles and were the 2015 FCS national runner-up. Robinson also worked with All-American and JSU career receiving leader Josh Barge.

Robinson began his coaching career as the tight ends coach for Maryville College in 2014 and produced one all-conference performer his first season.

A four-year player for Huntingdon, Robinson was a team captain as a senior in 2013 and a part of the Hawks’ first year in the USA South Athletic Conference. The 2013 team set what was then a Division III record by averaging 585.8 yards of offense per game.

Following the completion of his senior season, Robinson ranked fourth in program history in career receptions, fifth in career receiving yards, third in career punt returns, fourth in career punt return yards and fifth in career punt return average.

Robinson set, and still holds, the program’s season record for punt return yards with 123 in 2012. He also set the program’s record for longest punt return with a 57-yard return for a touchdown against Maryville in 2012.

Robinson is married to the former Shelby Hendon.
