Bio

Landius Wilkerson joined the Huntingdon staff as the defensive line coach in 2010 and was named Recruiting Coordinator in 2017.

Wilkerson hails from Etowah, Tennessee. He graduated from McMinn Central High School where he participated in football, basketball and track.

During his first seven seasons, Wilkerson has helped two of his linemen earn All-American recognition. Defensive tackle D.J. Chappell became the first All-American in program history in 2012 and defensive tackle Heath McCray was named honorable mention All-American in 2015.

Chappell earned first-team All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association, first-team All-American honors from D3football.com and first-team AP Little All-America recognition in 2012.

In 2011, Chappell was an honorable mention All-American. Chappell was also a two-time first-team All-South Region selection. McCray was named honorable mention All-American and first-team All-Region in 2015 and was named second-team All-Region in 2016.

During the Hawks' first four seasons as members of the USA South Athletic Conference, Wilkerson's defensive line has produced one USA South Defensive Rookie if the Year (DeAnte' Griffith), six All-Conference performers and 17 Academic All-Conference selections. Wilkerson has also coached six NFF National Honor Society Achievement winners.

In 2016, as the Hawks captured back-to-back conference titles, the defensive line recorded 29 sacks and 43 tackles for loss and helped the defense hold three opponents to 33 yards rushing or less. Against Greensboro, the defensive line recorded six sacks and helped the Hawks hold the Pride to 145 yards of offense, the fourth lowest total in Huntingdon history.

During 2015's conference championship season, the defensive line accounted for 28.5 sacks and 45.5 tackles for loss and held four opponents to less than 100 yards rushing. As a unit, the defense set a Huntingdon record with 223 yards lost on sacks.

Wilkerson's defensive linemen combined for 25.5 sacks and 51.5 tackles for loss in 2012 to help the Huntingdon defense rank eighth in Division III in sacks and fifth in tackles for loss. The defensive front helped hold opponents to less than 100 yards rushing in five games.

In 2011, the unit totaled 24.5 sacks and 49 tackles for loss while holding opponents to less than 100 yards rushing in six games. The Hawks' defense ranked 12th in Division III in tackles for loss and 25th in sacks in 2011.

Wilkerson earned his B.S. degree in Mathematics Education from Alabama State University, where he played football and ran track. He completed his M.A. degree in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Tech. He coached for five years at McMinn Central High where he coached both offensive and defensive linemen and served as assistant head coach.

At ASU, Wilkerson was a captain and an All-Conference lineman. A three-year starter on the offensive line, Wilkerson was a member of the 2004 SWAC championship team.

In high school, Wilkerson was a two-time All-State defensive lineman and was selected to play in the Tennessee East-West All-Star game.

Wilkerson and his wife, the former Melody Pugh, have two daughters, McKenzie Lynne and Ava Grace.
