Huntingdon earns first 5-0 win in beach volleyball

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The second-year Huntingdon beach volleyball team picked up its first 5-0 victory with a win over Principia College on Saturday.

The Hawks split with Principia and Lincoln Memorial University on the final day of the Huntingdon Beach Tournament. Huntingdon beat the Division III Panthers in the final match of the tournament.

Huntingdon lost to LMU 4-1 in the first match on Saturday. The Railsplitters are a third-year Division II program.

Huntingdon's team of Addison Genard and Cheyenne Scarbrough earned wins in each match. Against LMU, the duo played as the No. 4 team and won 12-21, 21-14, 15-13. The pair played as the No. 3 team against Principia and won 21-15, 17-21, 15-10.

The No. 2 team of Bria Rochelle and Alexis Creasman went to three games against LMU but fell 21-16, 11-21, 20-18. Rochelle and Creasman bounced back for a 21-16, 21-16 win against Principia.

The Hawks' No. 1 and No. 4 teams each won in two games against Principia. Nichole LeFevre and Emily Fedonczak (No. 1) won 21-19, 21-16 and Shelby McAllister and Lexie DeVuyst (No. 4) won 21-17, 21-12. The No. 5 team of Amy Tyma and April Reese won 25-23, 17-21, 15-9.

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the Carson-Newman Tournament on March 23-24.
