Hawks open play in AVCA Small College Beach Championship

TAVARES, Fla. – The Huntingdon beach volleyball team played three matches on Day 1 of the ACVA Small College Beach Championship on Saturday.

The Hawks fell to Missouri Baptist 5-0 and lost to Webber International 4-1 before defeating junior college San Diego City College 3-2.

Against Webber International, the No. 5 team of Kaitlyn Carter and Amy Tyma won 23-21, 21-17. The No. 4 team of Addison Genard and Cheyenne Scarbrough fell in three sets 21-8, 15-21, 15-8.

In the opening match against Missouri Baptist, two pairs went to three sets. The No. 1 team of Nichole LeFevre and Emily Fedonczak won the first set 21-17 before losing the last two sets 21-16, 15-13. The No. 3 team of Lexie DeVuyst and Shelby McAllister won the first set 21-19 before losing 21-13, 15-8.

Huntingdon won three individual matches against San Diego City College. The No. 2 team of Bria Rochelle and Alexis Creasman won 21-11, 17-21, 15-10, the No. 4 team of Genard and Scarbrough won 22-20, 21-9 and the No. 5 team of Carter and Tyma won 21-18, 21-11.
