Hawks heading into the GSAC Baseball Tournament

MARYVILLE, Tenn. --- Huntingdon College's baseball team is set to play Great South Athletic Conference host and second-seeded Maryville College on Friday, Apr. 29, at 7 p.m. Eastern. Junior John Rice received the GSAC Pitcher of the Year honor on Thursday following a six win season including a conference-best 1.70 ERA.

The third-seeded Hawks (21-15, 4-5 GSAC) will try to knock off the Scots on their on turf on Friday evening in the opening round of the double elimination GSAC tournament hosted by Maryville.

All-Conference player Drew Harrell enters the GSAC tournament leading the Hawks with 48 hits and a .345 batting average in 36 games, while All-Conference player Miles Walding paced the team with 30 stolen bases on the season. Newcomer, Joseph Odom received the GSAC Freshman of the Year honor following a .333 GSAC average with a team-high 34 RBI's and four homers on the season. On the mound, Rice (6-2) held batters to a conference-low .227 batting average during the regular-season.
