Errors, timely hits cost Huntingdon in loss to Wabash

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon gave up five runs in the third inning, a three-run homer in the eighth and two runs in between as Wabash College took a 10-1 win on Saturday at Posey Field.

Huntingdon (7-3) committed four errors and allowed nine hits as the Little Giants (2-3) snapped the Hawks' five-game winning streak.

Trey Smith scored Huntingdon's run on a fielder's choice in the fourth inning and finished 2-for-4.

J.T. Miller (1-1) picked up the win for Wabash, striking out 10, allowing one run and scattering eight hits in nine innings. Grant Lowman (1-1) took the loss, striking out four, walking two, hitting two batters, giving up three earned runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings.

The Little Giants took a 5-0 lead in the third on three hits and two errors. Wabash made it 6-1 in the sixth and 7-1 in the seventh before John Holm hit a three-run home run in the eighth.

Huntingdon will play two games on Sunday. The Hawks play Wabash at noon. Following that game, Huntingdon will play Capital University (1-0).
