GSAC Sports Information

DECATUR, Ga.- Counting down the final few weeks of the season, Grant Lowman of Huntingdon and Blake Gentry of Maryville earn the Pitcher and Player of the week for baseball. This is the second straight week Lowman has earned the award and the first this season for Gentry.

Keeping the Hawks in the hunt for the regular season championship, Lowman was 1-0 last week, picking up Huntingdon's first win in a three-game series with Piedmont. Lowman pitched eight innings in a 4-0 win, striking out nine, walking five and allowing one hit.

In a three-game series at Covenant College, the senior Gentry second baseman went 7-for-14 (.500) with five runs scored. He stroked a double and an RBI while slugging at a .571 pace. After a pair of walks, his weekly on base percentage was .563 and he was 1-for-1 in stolen bases.

Huntingdon hosts LaGrange for a crucial three game series this weekend. Currently, the Hawks are tied at 4-2 with Piedmont. Maryville faces off in their own three game set at home with conference foe Piedmont this weekend.
