Huntingdon’s Odom drafted by Atlanta Braves

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon catcher Joseph Odom remembers watching the Atlanta Braves as a kid. The thought of playing professional baseball was more than just a dream for Odom, it became a goal. On Saturday, Odom moved one step closer to that goal when he was drafted by the Braves in the 13th round of the MLB Draft.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The accolades continue for the Huntingdon baseball team. Coming off a second straight 30-win season and the program's first appearance in a NCAA Regional, three Hawks were recently recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Junior catcher Joseph Odom was named second-team All-American and joined pitchers Neil Lawler and Craig Brown on the ABCA All-South Region teams.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon catcher Joseph Odom developed into one of Division III's top power hitters and helped the Hawks reach their first NCAA Regional this season. The junior from Vestavia Hills, Ala., led Division III with 14 home runs and was third in Division III with 60 RBIs. For Division III players with at least 160 at-bats, he was third with a .706 slugging percentage. His performance was recognized this week with the release of the D3baseball.com All-American teams. Odom was named third-team All-American. He was recognized as a first-team All-South Region selection earlier this week by D3baseball.com.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon catcher Joseph Odom and pitcher Corey Belyeu were both named All-Region by D3baseball.com on Monday. Odom was a first-team All-South selection and Belyeu was a third-team All-South selection.

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – The Huntingdon baseball team's first NCAA Regional appearance came to an end on Saturday on the final day of the Division III South Regional. The 22nd-ranked Hawks matched fourth-ranked Salisbury for six innings before the Sea Gulls pulled away late for a 9-3 win. Huntingdon finished 2-2 in the regional and ended the season with a 32-11 record.

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – The Huntingdon baseball team took another step in the NCAA Division III South Regional on Friday. A day after winning their first postseason game of the NCAA era, the Hawks eliminated Bridgewater 6-2 on the third day of the South Regional. The Hawks, who are making their first appearance in a NCAA Regional, need two wins on Saturday to claim the South Regional title. Huntingdon (32-10) will play Salisbury on Saturday at noon. With a win, the Hawks would play for the regional championship 3:30 p.m.

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Senior pitcher Craig Brown threw a two-hitter to lead the Huntingdon baseball team in the elimination round of the NCAA Division III South Regional on Thursday. Brown (7-1) struck out five and walked two in nine innings as the Hawks shut out Randolph-Macon 5-0 on the second day of the South Regional. The win was the first postseason victory for the Huntingdon baseball program during the NCAA era.

Huntingdon falls to Methodist in 10th inning in Game 1 of South Regional

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – The Huntingdon baseball team gave up a run in the top of the 10th inning as Methodist took a 4-3 win Wednesday in the opening game of the NCAA Division III South Regional. The Hawks (30-10) will play Randolph-Macon (23-18-1) in an elimination game on Thursday at noon.

Huntingdon baseball earns 30th win of the season

LaGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon baseball team scored four runs in the first three innings and got by LaGrange 4-3 on Saturday. The win was the 30th of the season for the Hawks (30-9), marking the second straight 30-win season for Huntingdon. It was the second win over LaGrange (22-23) in a three-game series. Huntingdon won the first game 6-5 in 10 innings on Friday night. The two teams will wrap up their series on Sunday at 1 p.m.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team rallied to beat Point University 8-7 in 10 innings on Wednesday night. It was the Hawks' 15th straight win at Posey Field. With three road games remaining this weekend, Huntingdon (28-9) closes the regular season with a 19-1 record at home this season.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team rallied from an early deficit and knocked off Piedmont 6-4 on Sunday for a weekend sweep at Posey Field. The Hawks (27-9) beat Piedmont (19-21) 5-3 and 6-2 on Saturday.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team took the first two games of a three-game series from Piedmont on Saturday. The Hawks won the first game 5-3 and won the second game 6-2. The two teams will wrap up the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will also be Senior Day for the Hawks (26-9).
