Huntingdon baseball shuts out Berry in seven innings

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team scored 10 runs in the first four innings and beat Berry College 11-0 in a seven-inning game Friday night.

The Hawks (18-9) put together 12 hits in the first four innings and winning pitcher Cory Belyeu (6-0) threw a complete-game two-hitter, struck out six, walked one and hit one batter.

Huntingdon scored nine runs in the second and fourth innings. Leading 1-0 in the second inning, Huntingdon sent nine batters to the plate and scored four runs on five hits and an error. In the fourth inning, the Hawks sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs on five hits and an error to take a 10-0 lead. Huntingdon's final run came in the sixth inning.

Caleb Astin, Joseph Odom, Austin White, Evan Agnew and Seth Currie combined for 11 of the Hawks' 14 hits. Astin had a game-high three hits and scored two runs. Currie had two hits, three RBIs and a run, Odom had two hits and three RBIs, Agnew finished with two hits, three runs and a RBI and White added two hits a RBI and a run.

Grant Brown and Trey Smith each finished with a RBI and a run and Keegan Lambeth and Jordan Freeman each scored once.

The Hawks host Berry in Game 2 on Saturday at 2 p.m.
