Huntingdon baseball ranked No. 1 in latest NCAA South Region poll

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team moved up to No. 1 in the latest NCAA South Region poll. The Hawks were ranked second, behind Salisbury, in the first region poll released in April.

Huntingdon (30-9 overall) has a 28-8 in-region record. Salisbury (30-7 overall, 25-4 in-region) is second, followed by Millsaps (32-11, 29-8) at third, Bridgewater (31-9, 30-4) at fourth and Christopher Newport (29-12-1, 27-12-1) at fifth.

Among the teams ranked in the region polls, Huntingdon split with two-time defending national champion Marietta, the No. 1 team in the Mideast Region and defeated Illinois Wesleyan (ranked second in the Central Region). The Hawks are 1-2 against Millsaps (No. 3 in the South Region) this season.

The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee will release the field for the 2013 Regionals on May 13.
