Huntingdon baseball loses Game 2 with Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Huntingdon baseball team managed 12 hits on Saturday but came up short in a 9-3 loss to Piedmont.
The game was the second of a three-game USA South Athletic Conference series. Piedmont leads the series 2-0 entering Sunday's Game 3 at 1 p.m.
Piedmont built a 6-0 lead in the first five innings before Huntingdon (16-7, 11-3 USA South) answered with three runs in the top of the seventh. But the Lions (14-6, 7-4 USA South) eased back ahead with three runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings.
Right fielder Gunnar Peters was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Hawks and third baseman Will Pharis was 3-for-5 with a RBI and a run. Center fielder Trammell DeJarnett and pinch runner Cade Conville each scored one run.
Short stop Landon Sessions was 3-for-4 and second baseman Jordan Freeman was 2-for-4.
Jackson Cruce (5-1) took the loss for the Hawks in 4 2/3 innings.
