Huntingdon’s Spivey and Freeman earn All-Region honors

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon junior Anthony Spivey and senior Jordan Freeman were each recognized as All-Region performers on Wednesday with the release of the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region teams.

Spivey was named second-team All-South as an outfielder and Freeman was named third-team All-South as a third baseman. Spivey was also named second-team All-South Region by D3baseball.com.

"Both of them are very deserving of this recognition," Huntingdon baseball coach D.J. Conville said. "They both worked hard this season and played a key role in our success."

Spivey and Freeman helped lead the Hawks to a 24-15 record and a runner-up finish in the USA South Athletic Conference.

In his first season at Huntingdon, Spivey earned first-team All-Conference honors and started in 36 games. The Phenix City native led the Hawks with a .380 batting average, 46 RBIs and a .613 slugging percentage. He tied for the team lead with 54 hits, was second on the team with seven home runs and fourth on the team with 29 runs scored.

Freeman, who started in all 39 games this season and was named first-team All-Conference, batted .303 (50-for-165) with 43 RBIs, 41 runs, 14 doubles and a .552 slugging percentage. The Prattville native led the USA South with nine home runs this past season and tied for the conference lead as a junior.
