Hawks to open NCAA Regional against Birmingham-Southern

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team will open the postseason against Birmingham-Southern on Wednesday in the South Regional at Berry College.

The Hawks and Panthers will play in the second game on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. (Central). Huntingdon (27-17) is the No. 5 seed in the six-team South Regional in Mount Berry, Ga. Birmingham-Southern (37-11) is the No. 2 seed.

Huntingdon was one of 56 teams announced by the NCAA Division III Baseball Committee on Monday morning. This is the second time the Hawks have reached the postseason during the NCAA era. Huntingdon made its first NCAA postseason appearance in 2013.

The remaining teams in the South Regional are No. 1 seed Emory (32-10), No. 3 seed Shenandoah (32-10), No. 4 seed Marietta (28-15) and No. 6 seed Thomas More (32-10).

The winners of the eight regional tournaments advance to the NCAA Championship Tournament in Appleton, Wis. on May 27-June 2.

General admission for the South Regional is $10. Admission is $7 for students with valid ID, senior citizens and children ages 2-12. Children under two will be admitted for free.
