Hawks ranked 3rd in USA South preseason baseball poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon baseball team is ranked third in the USA South preseason poll released on Wednesday.
The Hawks received a total of 74 points. Preseason favorite LaGrange received seven first-place votes and 94 points. Ferrum was third with three-place votes and 87 points.
Huntingdon is coming off a 27-19 season and was the USA South Athletic Conference tournament champion last season. The Hawks advanced to the NCAA Division III South Regional where they were eliminated on the second day.
Both Huntingdon and LaGrange are receiving votes in the D3baseball.com poll.
Rounding out the USA South preseason poll are Maryville in fourth with 72 points, Methodist in fifth with 63 points, N.C. Wesleyan in sixth with 57 points, Covenant in seventh with one first-place vote and 55 points, Piedmont in eighth with 43 points, Averett in ninth with 24 points, Greensboro in 10th with 20 points and William Peace in 11th with 16 points.
Huntingdon opens its season at home against Millsaps on February 3 at 5 p.m.
