Huntingdon loses to 4th-ranked Emory

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team recorded a season-high 11 hits but fell to fourth-ranked Emory University 12-7 on Friday night.

Emory (8-0) used a six-run third inning to gain momentum early and took a 12-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh. The Hawks (2-8) cut into the lead with three runs in the bottom of the seventh and two runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Junior Garrett Headley and seniors Josh Hines and Cade Conville combined for eight hits, three RBIs and four runs for Huntingdon. Headley was 3-for-4 with three runs and two stolen bases, Hines was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run and Conville was 2-for-4 with a RBI.

Michael Rodda and Hunter Long each had one RBI and Taylor Fought, Cody Shoemaker and Wes Powell each scored one run.

Zach McGrady (0-4) took the loss in six innings.

Huntingdon and Emory will play Game 2 of the series on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Posey Field.
