Huntingdon comes up short in doubleheader with No. 10 LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader at 10th-ranked LaGrange College on Saturday.

The Hawks fell 8-4 in Game 1 and 6-3 in Game 2.

In Game 1, Huntingdon (4-14, 2-4 USA South) took an early 2-0 lead and led 4-2 entering the bottom of the fifth inning. But LaGrange (18-2, 8-1 USA South) answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, one run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh.

Hunter Long had two RBIs for the Hawks in the first game. Taylor Fought had two hits, an RBI and a run and Corey Lowe had one RBI. Garrett Headley scored two runs and Will Cosby had two hits and scored once.

Matt Gatewood (2-3) took the loss in Game 1 and Carden Mellown (0-3) took the loss in Game 2.

In the second game, trailing 5-0 in the top of the fifth inning, Huntingdon scored three runs to make it 5-3. LaGrange scored its final run in the bottom of the fifth to make it a three-run game.

Cosby drove in two of the Hawks' runs with a single in the fifth inning to score Headley and Cade Conville. Michael Rodda scored Huntingdon's first run on an error.

Huntingdon hosts the Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
