Hawks ranked sixth in USA South preseason baseball poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon baseball team is ranked sixth in the USA South Athletic Conference preseason poll released on Wednesday.

Huntingdon totaled 94 points in the poll. Preseason favorite Methodist received six first-place votes and 137 points. LaGrange and Piedmont are tied for second with 130 points. LaGrange received four first-place votes and Piedmont earned three first-place votes.

Maryville is fourth with 100 points and Pfeiffer is fifth with 96 points.

Methodist won the regular-season conference title last season. LaGrange is the two-time conference tournament champion.

Behind Huntingdon, North Carolina Wesleyan is seventh with 81 points, Greensboro is eighth with 67 points, William Peace is ninth with 55 points and Covenant is 10th with 54 points. Averett (11th), Brevard (12th) and Berea (13th) round out the poll.

Huntingdon will host the Firehouse Classic Tournament on Feb. 8-10 to open the season.
