13th-ranked Hawks fall in Game 2 with No. 17 Methodist

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team gave up five runs in the final four innings in an 8-3 loss to Methodist on Saturday in the second game of a three-game conference series.             

Huntingdon won the first game 16-2 on Friday night. The two nationally ranked teams will wrap up the series on Sunday at noon at Posey Field.      

In Saturday's game, 17th-ranked Methodist took an early 3-1 lead before 13th-ranked Huntingdon (17-5, 9-4 USA South) tied the game in the fifth inning with a two-run home run by Heath Haskins. Methodist (18-4, 9-2 USA South) pulled ahead with three runs in the sixth inning and added one run in the eighth inning and one run in the ninth.

Haskins finished with two RBIs and a run. Chris Fisher was 3-for-5 with a run and Wes Powell was 2-for-5 with a run and a triple. Fisher scored the Hawks' first run on a wild pitch in the first inning.

Brooks Freeman (5-2) took the loss in 5 1/3 innings.
