No. 12 Huntingdon falls to Birmingham-Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The 12th-ranked Huntingdon baseball team gave up four unearned runs and lost to Birmingham-Southern 4-2 on Tuesday night.

The Hawks fell behind 4-0 in the first three innings before scoring two runs in the final four innings. After scoring a run in the sixth inning, Huntingdon (18-6) cut the Panthers' lead to two runs in the ninth inning. Birmingham-Southern (18-8) ended the game with Huntingdon runners on first and third. 

Garrett Breland doubled to drive in Chris Fisher for Huntingdon's first run in the sixth inning. In the ninth inning, Bradley Harris singled to drive in Will Cosby for the Hawks' final run.

Breland finished 2-for-4 and was the only Hawk with multiple hits.

Freshman Colton Clark (0-1) took the loss in three innings, striking out three, allowing four hits and four unearned runs. Relievers Ryan Smith (four innings) and Garrett Feemster (one inning) combined to allow just two hits in the final five innings.

Coming Up: Huntingdon returns to action in a three-game USA South Athletic Conference series at Covenant this weekend. Game 1 of the series is set for 2 p.m. (Central) on Friday.
