Hawks fall in doubleheader with Millsaps

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader with Millsaps on Tuesday.

The 21st-ranked Hawks lost the first game 4-1 before falling 11-9 in Game 2. Both games were scheduled seven-inning games.

Wes Powell was the only Huntingdon player with multiple hits in each game. Powell finished the day 4-for-8 with a solo home run, an RBI and two runs.

Bradley Harris scored Huntingdon's run in Game 1 and Ryan Smith (1-1) took the loss on the mound in four innings. Jacob Munn (3-2) took the loss in relief in Game 2.

Huntingdon (22-11) appeared to be in control early in the second game. The Hawks scored five runs in the second inning and three runs in the third inning to take an 8-3 lead. Powell's home run in the fifth inning put Huntingdon in front 9-3.

But Millsaps answered with eight runs in the sixth inning and closed out the final game.

Powell had two hits, two runs and an RBI in Game 2 and Danny Coleman Jr. had two hits, two runs and two stolen bases. Will Cosby had two hits and a run, Andrew Knight had two RBIs and a run and Harris had an RBI and a run.

Chris Fisher drove in one run and Garrett Breland and Jake Elrod each scored one run.

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play a three-game conference series at Greensboro this weekend. Game 1 is set for Friday at 5 p.m. (Central).
