Huntingdon ranked 5th in USA South preseason baseball poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon baseball team is ranked fifth in the USA South Athletic Conference preseason poll.

Huntingdon received one first-place vote and totaled 105 points in the poll.

Preseason favorite LaGrange received seven first-place votes and 134 points. Methodist is second with four first-place votes and 131 points, Pfeiffer is third with one first-place vote and 118 points and Piedmont is fourth with 111 points.

LaGrange is the three-time defending conference tournament champion. Methodist was second in the 2019 regular-season standings and Piedmont was the 2019 regular-season conference champion.

Behind Huntingdon, Maryville is sixth with 82 points, North Carolina Wesleyan is seventh with 80 points, Greensboro is eighth with 75 points, Covenant is ninth with 64 points and William Peace is 10th with 42 points. Averett (11th), Brevard (12th) and Berea (13th) round out the poll.

Huntingdon will host the Firehouse Classic Tournament on Feb. 7-9 to open the season.
