Hawks split with Maryville on Senior Day

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon baseball team closed its conference series with a split against Maryville on Sunday.

Following Saturday's weather postponement, the two teams agreed to play a pair of seven-inning games for Sunday's Senior Day doubleheader. Huntingdon won the first game 5-4 in eight innings and lost the second game 4-0.

In Game 1, Huntingdon trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning before Colton Clark singled to drive in Ryan Meadows to tie the game. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Huntingdon loaded the bases with a single and two walks. Hall Billings scored on a wild pitch to end the game.

Billings finished with two runs and Andrew Knight had one RBI and one run on a solo home run. Clark finished with one RBI and Colin Whibbs and Meadows each scored one run.

Ryan Smith (2-0) earned the win in three innings of relief. Josh Stevens (0-1) took the loss in Game 2. Clark had Huntingdon's only hit in the second game.
