Hawks Fall to Edgewood in Series Finale

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Baseball fell to Edgewood, 15-5, in the final game of the series.

Edgewood took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI groundout and a passed ball. The Eagles added 2 runs in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead.

Innes Mackay put the Hawks on the board with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the 3rd. Noah Phillips reached on an error and brought in a run to make it 4-2. Edgewood had an 8-run 4th inning to break open the game and take a 12-2 lead. 

Noah Phillips had a 2 RBI single to left field in the bottom of the fourth to make it 12-4. Edgewood added 3 runs in the top of the 9th to take a 15-4 lead. Noah Phillips' RBI single in the bottom of the 9th made it 15-5 but it was not enough to come back against the Eagles.

Gavin Gomez suffered his first loss of the season, pitching 1.1 innings and allowing 4 runs on 3 hits with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Colton Clark was 2-4 with 2 RBI and a walk. Noah Phillips was 2-4 with 4 RBI.


The Hawks are back in action at home on Saturday, March 12th, in a doubleheader against Mississippi University for Women. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM CST.
