Hawks Taken Down by LaGrange in Series Opener

Montgomery, Ala.-Huntingdon Baseball was defeated by LaGrange, 21-11, in game 1 of the series. 

LaGrange took a 2-0 lead in the third inning with a 2-run homerun. An RBI groundout made it 3-0. In the bottom of the third, Colton Clark had a 2-RBI double to make it 3-2. A 12-run 5th inning gave LaGrange a 15-2 lead. 

In the 6th inning, Cullen Stafford had a sacrifice fly to make it 15-3. Cade Morgan's RBI single made it 15-4. Daniel Patton had an RBI single to make it 15-5. Andrew Knight hit a grand slam to make it 15-9.

LaGrange added 2 runs in the 7th inning with an RBI single, making it 17-9. A walk with the bases loaded made it 18-9. In the 8th inning, LaGrange added a run with a solo homerun to take a 19-9 lead. 

In the bottom of the 8th, Colin Whibbs had an RBI single to make it 19-10. An RBI single and fielder's choice gave LaGrange a 21-10 lead. The Hawks added a run in the bottom of the 9th when Daniel Patton reached on an error and brought in a run.

Chris Williams suffered the loss, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing 9 runs on 9 hits with 2 strikeouts. Andrew Knight was 1-4 with 2 runs and 4 RBI, including a grand slam. Hall Billings was 2-4 with 3 runs. Cade Morgan was 204 with 1 run and 1 RBI. The Hawks totaled 13 hits. 

Game 2 of the series against LaGrange is tomorrow, April 30th. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM CST.
