HUNTINGDON’S PEARCY AND ANTHONY NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN TEAM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Two Huntingdon College football players have been recognized as preseason All-Americans.

Senior receiver Cody Pearcy and senior defensive back Keith Anthony were recently selected to the D3 Senior Classic preseason All-American team. Pearcy was a first-team selection for the South offense and Anthony was a second-team selection for the South defense.

"Cody and Keith are both deserving of this recognition," Huntingdon head coach Mike Turk said. "Both of them are leaders. They are guys their teammates know they can count on."

Pearcy had a breakout season as a junior, setting the Huntingdon record for receiving yards in a season (1,078) and touchdown receptions in a season (12). He finished with more than 100 yards receiving in seven games and set the program's single-game record with 183 receiving yards against Maryville. Against Maryville, he also set a school record with a 98-yard touchdown reception.

Entering his senior season, Pearcy ranks third in Huntingdon history with 101 career receptions, 1,866 yards and 17 touchdowns. He needs 45 receptions, 632 yards and six touchdowns to break each school record.

Anthony, a team captain as a junior, has started every game the past two seasons. Anthony was chosen as a preseason second-team All-American by D3Football.com in 2010. He enters his senior season as the Hawks' third all-time leading tackler (191) and is second in career interceptions (13). He needs three interceptions to become the program's career leader.

Last season he set the Huntingdon record for tackles in a game with 17 against Birmingham-Southern and matched the mark against Salisbury. As a sophomore he set the Huntingdon record for interceptions in a season with nine.

The D3 Senior Classic pits the nation's top Division III seniors in a North vs. South all-star game in December. The game, which is played in Salem, Va., will be aired on Fox College Sports and webcast at www.knoxivi.com/d3classic.
