Huntingdon football ranked in Top 25 for first time

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon's 24-21 win over then-ranked Hampden-Sydney on Saturday helped vault the Hawks into the national rankings for the first time in program history.

With the release of D3football.com's Top-25 poll Sunday night, Huntingdon (3-1) entered the rankings at No. 24.

"It's the first time and it's good for our program to be recognized," Huntingdon head coach Mike Turk said. "It's another step in the right direction and it's something for our fans and supporters to be excited about. But, we (coaches and players) have to keep things in perspective.

"Being ranked does not do anything for you as far as winning games and reaching the playoffs. The thing we have to do is to continue to play good ball and keep trying to win games. We have goals we want to reach and we need to keep working to get better each week."

Huntingdon is also receiving votes in the American Football Coaches Association poll. The first AFCA poll of the season was released last week and the second poll was released on Monday.
