Huntingdon football ranked 23rd in first AFCA Top 25 poll

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon football team earned a spot in the American Football Coaches Association's Division III Top 25 poll on Monday.

Coming off a 35-7 win over Mississippi College in their first game and a 34-27 win over Louisiana College this past weekend, the Hawks are ranked 23rd in the AFCA's first poll of the season.

This is the first time in program history the Hawks (2-0) have been ranked by the AFCA. Huntingdon moves into the poll just ahead of USA South Athletic Conference rival Christopher Newport. The Captains (3-0) are ranked 24th. Defending Division III national champion Mount Union (2-0) is ranked No. 1.

While this is the Hawks' first appearance in the AFCA poll, it's not the first time the Hawks have been in the national rankings. Huntingdon spent seven weeks in the D3football.com Top 25 last season and was ranked as high as No. 16. Huntingdon is currently receiving votes in the D3football.com poll.
