Huntingdon’s Peacock and Pridgen earn All-Region honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Huntingdon offensive linemen Joey Peacock and Chael Pridgen were both recognized as All-South Region performers Monday evening with the release of the ninth annual D3football.com All-South Region teams.

Peacock was named third-team All-Region at offensive guard and Pridgen was named third-team All-Region at offensive tackle. This is the third straight year Huntingdon has had at least two All-Region performers. Peacock and Pridgen are the first Huntingdon offensive linemen to earn All-Region honors.

"Joey and Chael are both very deserving of this honor. It wasn't just their play on the field, but their leadership that made a difference for us," Huntingdon head coach Mike Turk said. "Coming into this season, we expected the offensive line to be one of our strengths. We were counting on those guys up front to set the tone, and they performed at a high level all season.

"A big part of our success as an offensive unit was our ability to control the line of scrimmage. Those two guys were crucial to us being able to accomplish what we did offensively."

Peacock (6-foot-2, 323 pounds), a senior from Columbus, Ga., and Pridgen (6-1, 270), a sophomore from Hazel Green, Ala., are both two-year starters for the Hawks. The duo anchored the right side of the line for an offensive unit that led Division III with 585.8 yards of offense per game and generated more than 700 yards in a game twice.

The offense set program records with 436 points scored, 5,858 yards of offense and 3,447 passing yards. The Hawks had the third best rushing season in school history with 2,411 yards on the ground.

Hampden-Sydney quarterback Nash Nance was named the South Offensive Player of the Year and Mary Hardin-Baylor defensive tackle Silvio Diaz was named the South Defensive Player of the Year. Mary Hardin-Baylor's Pete Fredenburg earned South Coach of the Year honors.
