Huntingdon’s Brownell named to D3football Team of the Week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Linebacker Zach Brownell was recognized this week by D3football.com for his performance against Christopher Newport.

The senior was one of four linebackers named to D3football.com's national Team of the Week.

The Prattville native recorded nine tackles, two sacks, four tackles for loss and a fumble recovery in Huntingdon's 51-31 win over the Captains on Saturday. Brownell is averaging 11.8 tackles per game this season and has recovered three fumbles in the past four games. He leads the Hawks with three sacks and eight tackles for loss this season.

Huntingdon handed CNU its first conference loss of the season and just the 17th conference loss since 2001. The Hawks (4-2, 3-1 USA South) are in a four-way tie for first in the conference standings.

Huntingdon travels to Ferrum on Saturday.
