Hawks announce 2015 football schedule

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon College athletic department recently released its 2015 football schedule.

In addition to seven USA South Athletic Conference games, the schedule features non-conference rivals Louisiana College and Birmingham-Southern and first-time opponent Belhaven University.

Huntingdon will play two night games on the road this season and four of the Hawks' seven conference games will be at Samford Stadium this fall.

"The non-conference portion of our schedule will challenge us in several different ways, especially with two of those games being on the road," Huntingdon head football coach Mike Turk said. "The conference portion of our schedule brings several challenges as well. As we have learned in our first two years in the USA South, we must be ready to play each and every week."

The Hawks open the season at Samford Stadium on Sept. 5 against Louisiana College. A 6 p.m. game at Birmingham-Southern follows on Sept. 12. After a bye week, the Hawks close out the non-conference portion of their schedule in Mississippi at Belhaven on Sept. 26. The Blazers, a former member of the NAIA, are in their first season as a NCAA Division III program.

Huntingdon will play five conference games in October, beginning with a home game against North Carolina Wesleyan on Oct. 3. Road trips to Ferrum (Oct. 10) and a night game at LaGrange (Oct. 17) will follow before Huntingdon returns home on Oct. 24 to play Methodist. The Hawks close out the month at Greensboro on Oct. 31.

Huntingdon will close out the regular season with two games at Samford Stadium, hosting Maryville on Nov. 7 and Averett on Nov. 14.
