Five Hawks named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

IRVING, Texas – Five Huntingdon football players were named to the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame's Hampshire Honor Society on Wednesday.

The Hawks' 2015 selections are defensive lineman Derick Bothwell, receiver Brantley Carr, defensive lineman Michael Hill, kicker Jimbo Turk and offensive lineman Ryan Williams.

To be eligible for the Hampshire Honor Society, a player must have been a starter or significant contributor during their last year of eligibility at an accredited NCAA or NAIA institution, maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers and met all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements and graduation.

A total of 817 football players from 278 schools qualified for membership in the Hampshire Honor Society this year. Huntingdon was one of five schools in Alabama to have at least one player selected.

In addition to Huntingdon's five selections, the University of Alabama had two players named (Arie Kouandjio and Brian Vogler) and Alabama State University (Edward Mosley), the University of South Alabama (Jesse Kelly) and Auburn University (Patrick Young) each had one player recognized.

Since the Hampshire Honor Society began in 2007, Huntingdon has had at least one player selected every year and a total of 43 Hawks have been recognized.
