Huntingdon welcomes more than 150 football players to campus

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Head football coach Mike Turk and his staff welcomed more than 150 football players to campus on Saturday for the official start of preseason camp.

"The day that the players come back to campus is always an exciting day," Turk said. "We have a lot of guys back from last year, and some new guys coming in that we have high hopes for. Hopefully, the players have worked hard over the summer and are prepared for training camp. I know that we have a lot of coaching to do before we play on Sept. 5, but we are ready to get started."

The two weeks of preseason practice begin on Sunday, with the Hawks taking the field at 3 p.m. Huntingdon opens the season at home on Sept. 5 against Louisiana College. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Football is the first of four Huntingdon athletic teams scheduled to report during the next week. The Huntingdon men's and women's soccer teams will report on Tuesday and the volleyball team will report on Friday.
