USA South announces details for 2016 Football Media Day

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The USA South Athletic Conference formally released the details for the 2016 Football Media Day on Monday.

Huntingdon College will host the event in the Drum Theater on Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. Central. Each of the USA South's eight head football coaches will address the media and give their thoughts on the upcoming football season.

The USA South preseason football poll will be released during Media Day. The head coach of the last-place team will speak first and the event will conclude with the head coach of the preseason favorite speaking last. The full preseason poll will be posted on the USA South website once the event is underway.

Huntingdon is the defending USA South champion and posted a 7-0 conference record last season. The Hawks set the school and conference record for wins in a season with a 10-2 overall record and advanced to the NCAA playoffs for just the second time.

Huntingdon earned the program's first playoff win with 38-27 victory over Hendrix College in the first round before falling to 10th-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor in the second round of the playoffs.

The 16th season of USA South football will begin on Sept. 2 as North Carolina Wesleyan travels to Stevenson. The remainder of the conference will open play on Sept. 3.

Huntingdon will open the 2016 season on Sept. 3 at Louisiana College at 1 p.m.
