Division III Week Student Spotlight - Nick Haas
This week is NCAA Division III Week and member institutions across the country are celebrating the sixth-year event.
Division III Week, which runs from Monday through Sunday, is intended to recognize the academic and athletic accomplishments as well as the campus leadership and community service efforts of Division III student-athletes.
As part of Huntingdon College's participation in Division III Week, five student-athletes will be featured this week. Huntingdon senior Nick Haas is today's featured student-athlete.

Major: Mathematics
Career Goals: Pursue a master's degree from Auburn to become a mechanical engineer
Sport: Football
Athletic Accomplishments: Haas finished his career tied for first in program history with 147 receptions in 42 games. His 2,346 career receiving yards and 20 career touchdown receptions rank third in program history. During his junior season, he caught 54 passes for 823 yards. His 54 catches are tied for second for most receptions in a season while his 823 receiving yards are the fourth most in a season for Huntingdon. Haas was named second-team All-Conference his junior season and first-team All-Conference his senior season.
What made you feel like Huntingdon was the right place for you? "When I came on my visit, the coaches really made me feel welcomed and they made the whole experience great. I also really liked the campus and what the school had to offer."
What has made your Huntingdon experience unique? "The friendships and bonds I have made with my teammates that will last forever. I have also become close with my coaches and professors and I know they will do whatever they can to help me succeed."
How has Huntingdon challenged you academically and athletically? "Athletically, the coaches have pushed me harder than I thought I could be. Academically, along the same lines as football, the professors continue to push me in the classroom and try to get the best out of me."
What has been your biggest highlight as a Huntingdon student-athlete? "Definitely winning the USA South title my junior and senior seasons and playing in the playoffs. The playoff win against Hendrix last season was huge and to be the first team to win a playoff game was one of the best feelings."
As a student-athlete, what is your impression of Division III now compared to your first season? "I didn't know much about Division III when I came in, but I definitely realized quickly how hard they were going to push me. I've played against and with a lot of good talent."
