Huntingdon football reports for preseason practice

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – More than 120 Huntingdon football players reported to campus on Tuesday for the start of preseason camp.

Head coach Mike Turk and his staff welcomed 123 players, including 76 returning players. The two-time defending USA South Athletic Conference champions open practice on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.

The Hawks will have 12 days of practice before classes begin on Aug. 21. Huntingdon opens the season at home on Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. against Guilford College.

Head Coach Mike Turk on the players reporting: "We're always excited about the guys being back. This is always a hectic day for the players, coaches and training staff, but it means we're about to get cranked up and we'll be playing ball soon."

Preseason practice schedule: The Hawks will practice at 9 a.m. each day from Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday's practice is scheduled for 3 p.m. Practices are open to the public.

Looking ahead: The football team is the first of six Huntingdon athletic teams scheduled to report for preseason practice. Men's and women's soccer, volleyball and men's and women's cross country report on Aug. 16. This will be the first year of competition for the cross country program since 2012.
